I hope everyone is busy enjoying the holiday season. I have the lights up, the house and tree are decorated, and the shopping has begun! I went to my dr. yesterday for my checkup, and he is pleased with my loss so far. He counts the pounds lost by the actual weight I was at my preop consultation - we are shooting for a 100 pound loss by my bandiversary on March 17, 2011. I have 28 pounds to go. In actuality, I have lost 105 pounds since my heaviest weight. A couple of things have happened though - I briefly struggled back in the fall and was at a bit of a slow down. I changed my exercise from daily, to every OTHER day - and I lowered my calorie intake a bit (100 calories less) - with a watchful eye on my fat and carb intake - and I had more loss!!! It really is about finding that balance between food and exercise - and it is individual for each person. You have to find what works for YOU, and then tweak it and figure out what you can live with comfortably! BALANCE. I also found out that I am majorly Vitamin D deficient, so I am taking a daily supplement for that, along with my vitabands, and a sublingual b-12 tablet.
I have a had a few new "gains"...and my January blog will be a reflection on my list of things I hoped to gain that I wrote at the beginning of this journey - and I hope to check off a few things from that list in addition to adding some new things I'd like to do in the future. Unfortunately, its too cold right now for horsebackriding - which was on my to do list once i got under 250 - so that will have to wait for spring!
Two of the coolest subtle things that have happened though are my ability to wear my wedding rings again - which I may have already mentioned in a previous blog. I had been wearing my 10 year anniversary band as my wedding rings had been resized once already and I had to quit wearing them. I am happy to report that ALL rings are on my fingers (original engagement ring, wedding band, and anniversary band) and they are a bit LOOSE!!!! Do you think I could convince hubby that for our 25th anniversary in a few years we could get new sets? Of course these will always be sacred :)
The other cool thing that happened to me, and some of you bigger ladies will be able to relate, is that I am able to actually sit with my legs crossed like a proper lady. I didn't even realize I could do this - I just looked down in the doctors office waiting room and realized that I had my leg up and over my thigh!! Whoo Whoo! Ok - so its little, but its the little things that are BIG accomplishments - they help me to stay on track and realize that giving up that piece of cheesecake (or having just a bite!) is well worth the payoff.
I also flew in a airplane, and while I was terrified that the seat wasn't going to be wide enough, I actually fit (they are still too small for average size people!!). But better yet, I didn't have to ask for a seatbelt extender :)
