NOT a NEW you

Thursday, September 09, 2010

I see people on here all the time talking about how "I'm a new person!" "Look at the new me!" I see diet plans all the time that promise a "NEW YOU." My question is...what was wrong with the old you? Sure, maybe you had a few pounds, or a lot of pounds, that you didn't want to have. But having that weight didn't make you a different person, and losing it doesn't make you a better person. It just makes you healthier. You were still the same beautiful person 100 lbs ago as you are now, and running that marathon you are planning isn't going to make you a better person either. You are beautiful, and always have been...so why do you think you need a new you?

God has always thought you were beautiful, and so do many people out there. Your more fit body doesn't make you beautiful. It's still the same body it has always been, it's just in better shape now. And you are still the same person you have always been! You have never needed to be a new you. Plenty of us liked the old you just fine! :)

I can totally understand what you are talking about. I use to think exactly that until I realized that the "NEW You" that everyone is talking about is not a new person from the old one it is a new person in how they feel about themselves. Losing weight changes the mind set of a person from non-motivated to motivated and in that we become new people because our thinking has changed. I do agree that weight shouldn't be the factor in how you feel about yourself but so many insecurities are tied to it because we live in a society where being fat is unacceptable.
