Starting over

Monday, September 06, 2010

Well that is how I sorta feel this morning. In looking back, the last time DH and I went out for a jog/walk was the 22nd of August. Geez Louise!

Anyway, this morning it was a beautiful 62 degrees (69% humidity) so very nice to be out. I have been out the last day or two walking and what a difference on the old legs walking on pavement over the treadmill. So I could still feel it in my legs but we went anyway and yes, no choice but to run on the roads out there.

Of course the first mile is usually my best mile and today was no different. I clocked the 3 miles we ventured out to do. I started out using the 30/30 splits but wavered after the first mile. I need to be more diligent about my intervals next time out.

Anyway, 11:18/12:31/12:40 with an average of 12:19. Yes, I need to work harder to improve and plan to do so. I think we'll see how the week goes and maybe even out a night or two for a mile or two to see how it goes. This, of course, depends on how I feel after 10 hour work days. Time will tell, just a thought at this point in time.

Do feel like we're starting over? Yep. I feel the need to get us registered for a 5k to work towards. I know there are a few around for the fall so will seek them out. Will keep you posted!

Congrats getting out running today and on your times. It does seem like I've been in an "off cycle" myself - but have been back on track for a couple weeks now. It sure does make a difference getting back into the swing of things.

I know how you feel. I sort of feel off track there at the end of August and didn't get my exercise in, didn't eat well, etc. I'm back on track this week. I exercised both days, planned my meals and snacks and did some healthy cookint.

Good luck getting back at it! You can do it, I know!!

Welcome back! Your legs will "remember" pretty quickly, I think. Especially if you slow down a little for the first few miles.

Those temps are great! I envy you, but then I remind myself of my reward for the warmer temps now -- no snow and great running weather all winter!

That sounds great. Good luck and keep up posted on the 5k and when, where it will be. Great times for your running I think.

One thing about us is the "in shape" body bounces back pretty rapidly. A goal of a 5K is challenging and motivating. Good luck!!

I hate it when you get away and then start again. Working out inside just isn't the same as the workout outside or at least that is what my body tell me

The 10 hr days have to be killers ... and you've been doing that for (what) two or three weeks now? Hopefully that ends very soon!

You're right - once you've been off your exercise routine for a while, it does feel like starting all over!

Good for you, I'm still so jealous you can walk/run like that. One day! I know how you feel about starting over. I feel the same way. Since I have had this congestion for two weeks, I have had a hard time staying on my bike for 15 minutes let alone the hour I was doing every day. Now I feel like I have to start over doing one more minute every day and work up to an hour again. It's amazing how quickly you can lose your momentum or stride. It just compounds the fact that this is hard work! You go girl!
