MUST Remember This Feeling!

I feel sick... seriously sick. Tonight I decided to throw caution the wind and go for it. We met friends at my favorite italian restaurant... and I was good all day, eating few calories and putting in most of the food I was going to order in before we went. BUT then I couldn't put the fork down, and then decided to have a few bite of my boyfriend's amazing chocolate cake. It was delicious. BUT, the entire meal... 1557 CALORIES!!! SERIOUSLY!?!?! That is more than I have been eating for the day for the past 3 weeks! So here I am... feeling like I am going to puke, popping pepto bismul and hoping that I feel better in time for bed.

But, in a way I'm glad this happened. Why? Because this means that I have started making a lifestyle change. 2 months ago I would have eaten the same amount and not had any problem with it, and that would be after eating "normal" all day. I am really hoping I remember this the next time I go out and actually bring home food instead of eating every last bite. Of course the way I feel now I think it's going to be a while before I eat any Italian!!!

I hope the rest of you also have this feeling of "How in the WORLD did I used to eat all of that????" That is why I am glad this happened because it's reassurance that I am making a change! Now if I can just get this feeling of nausea to go away!!!!!

    I hope you are feeling better!. I'm so new to this I haven't had that feeling that you know that your lifestyle changes are the right thing to do and you feel good about it. I wish you didn't have to feel bad to realize this, but what a great discovery. During the tough times you can think back to the Italian dinner and remember how you felt.

    Good for you and your new eating habits.

    Well firstly I hope you feel better soon. Secondly I know just what you mean.
    I totally agree with JBurd09 about getting a to go box before you start to eat and only keep on your plate the portion you need to eat.
    When food is left on our plates we sometimes feel the need to eat it even if we are full because 1)Its kinda expensive to eat out and you dont want to waste, 2)I for one never eat left overs for some reason, 3) It looks so good lol

    I think everyone trying to implement a complete lifestyle change has had that moment! And it's definitely a learning experience.

    Something that might be helpful the next time you go out to avoid having to re-learn the lesson: get a to-go box before you start eating your meal and portion out left overs before you even pick up the fork to eat. That way, when you're finished, there's nothing left to stare you in the face. :) It has helped me in a number of situations!
