I ordered a stand up paddle board!
I love it!
I've gone out 3 times in 5 days and I don't even have my own board yet. I feel a pleasant soreness in my muscles from all the paddling and balancing. When I'm out there it just feels like playing, but I can tell that I'm getting in better shape. I feel muscles I forgot I had getting stronger!
This is so cool!
I was starting to think I should try running again because I've read so many people's blogs about how it is changing their lives and they never thought they would like it, but I've never liked running in the past. Well, I think this stand up paddle board is the answer for me. I'll have to look into a wetsuit for when the weather gets cooler. I guess it doesn't have to be a wetsuit since you don't get wet doing this.
Another thing that is happening, I'm spending less time on sparkpeople. I don't think this is a bad thing because I've been spending quite a lot of time on the site since I found it. The reason is that I'm getting more active and doing more things! It took me a while, but I'm finally getting regular exercise. I've been tracking my food all along and I won't quit doing that. It keeps me honest about how much pasta is reasonable for one person to eat at a meal. I was really into getting lots of points, and I'll still track my exercise, food, log in, read an article, and for sure read friend blogs. I may not keep doing all the little things to get extra points though, because I'll be out paddling!! And, of course, school starts soon so I'll be busy teaching, and that takes up lots of time too.
I'm so glad I have all my spark friends and this site. I'd probably still be sitting around eating too much if it weren't for Sparkpeople!
This picture is really a surfer, but put a paddle in your hand and grab a board and you can paddle around on any smooth water you want! (wish we had palm trees here)
