Another update after another weekend

Monday, August 02, 2010

Happy August SparkFriends! Can't believe we're already TWO days into a new month! WOW! Yesterday marked exactly 5 months until my wedding...eek! Getting a bit nervous now!

This weekend we had a LOT of stuff to get done. Friday I made a to-do list and organized it by time so we knew exactly what we had to get done. Saturday morning started off with a planned 10 miler. It felt SO great outside when I started out; I had planned for two 5-ish mile loops. The first loop went really well and I added a little .5 mile loop at the end for a total of 5.8 miles for the first loop. Ran home to get some water and then headed out for my second loop. It looked like it was going to pour so I was a bit worried as I was starting it, but it held out and then sun came out about a mile into the second loop. Woohoo! I finished the second loop with 5.4 miles. I could have kept going but I was SO frieken thirsty!! I think this weekend I'm going to invest in a sprint bottle...I have a camel back but I don't think I need that much water when I'm doing short loops like that so I'll try a sprint bottle. Maybe. We'll see. Geez I'm indecisive.

Anyway, Saturday we got a ton of stuff done and were way ahead of schedule for the whole day. It was wonderful! We went to mass Saturday night and then went to see Grown Ups. Frieken hilarious! We had a wonderful date night. We made lots of decisions for the wedding--finally!--and planned meals for the week. Sunday we got to enjoy a pretty lazy day. We grocery shopped in the morning then ran some errands and came back home to clean. I organized the pantry and it looks SO much better! I've had all the food piled on the bottom shelf ever since I had roommates a year ago; I could hardly ever remember what I had stuffed in the back of the shelf so I decided it was time to rearrange. I now have two shelves of food that I can see exactly what we have! They're not over-packed so everything is spread out and there is a ton of extra room on the shelves. DF opened the pantry this morning to get stuff for his lunch and said "WOW! I can actually find stuff in here!" Success. (:

LOTS of stuff coming up in the next two weeks. This Wednesday night we have a parent-teacher conference with DSS's new daycare director. Then Thursday night (I hope) we have a meet-the-teacher with his new teacher. DSS will be with his grandparents so I'm not sure if they'll bring him that night or the next morning since those are the two options, but we're going Thursday night either way to meet his teacher even if he's not there. Confusing, I know. This schedule is for the birds! So that's that and then Friday right after work I'm headed to my parents' house for a reunion for my high school I am soooo excited. My long runs are finally getting faster so I think I'll have a really good pace for the HM. I'm anxious to see how I race. After that, we're already halfway through August (SERIOUSLY!?!?!) and some serious training starts for my marathon and serious planning for the wedding needs to commence.

I just realized my thoughts are all over the place this morning so I'll wrap it up. I'm going to aim for an 8-miler this morning so I've got to hit the pavement if I want to get it in. I normally do a shorter recovery run on Mondays, but I'd rather do my longer run today without DSS. Tomorrow I'll attempt 6 or 7 with him in the jogger (longest to date) and maybe 8 on Thursday with him. I know DF really wants me to run with him for my HM next weekend so I need to see if I can handle that whole distance by building up to it. Right now I'm thinking I could run with DSS the first half and then pass him off and power through the second half, but we'll see.

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!! It was definitely a great one and I got tons of stuff accomplished so I'm happy. I probabably, no definitely, ate way too much, but I'm back on track today. I'm ordering my dress this week, I think that will really make me buckle down!

How awesome is that to have a productive weekend?! Exciting news about ordering your dress this week. Bet you're getting excited for the wedding! These next 5 months are going to fly by!

That would be so awesome if you ran even part of the HM with DSS. I bet he would love it!

Happy Monday! Hope you have a great week!

Congrats on getting so much done! Good call on getting a hydration device - I think you're right about the Cambelbak being too much, but it's hard to find that balance. I bought a hydration belt a few weeks ago and it holds two small bottles. So far it seems to work well. The handheld water bottles look cool too. Let me know what you get and how it works out. Good luck with the training this week!

Sounds like a fantastic weekend! Your runs are so inspiring!!! Send some of that mileage my way, I seem to hit a wall between 3-4 miles and can't push past! Ugh!!!

P.S. MY high school reunion is over labor day week, so seriously motivation to tone and trim up! :)
