Another weekend gone.. Dang!

Monday, July 19, 2010

Just a quick blog to update what's been going on. I think Wednesday of last week was the last blog, so a bit has gone on since then. Thursday morning I dropped DSS off at school and he went to his grandparents' for the weekend. I was very sad without him; I don't like dropping him off in the mornings, much less knowing he won't be coming home that night. ):

Friday was an off day from exercise but I had to go into work early so I did a quick workout then went to work for the day. DF had a meeting in Austin Friday night so I told him I'd go meet him there so after work I drove to my sisters house. I had eaten my carb-load dinner before I left but when I was at my sister's, she offered me a piece of chocolate cake and I indulged. Mmm and ick. It was so delish but I definitely didn't need it. Oh well, lesson learned.

Saturday morning I woke up bright and early (ok it was early so it wasn't bright yet, but whatev) and went scrounging in the kitchen to find my sister's coffee. I had called her before I left my house to make sure she had coffee, her coffee pot, etc (she just moved in to the house recently) and she said she had everything so I didn't come prepared. It took me about 20 minutes to even find the coffeepot--who the heck keeps it in the pantry in a box!?--and once I had taken it out of the box, washed it up, got out the grounds, etc, I realized she didn't have any coffee filters. #$^%! I'm pretty sure a little four letter word came out of my mouth. Ten miles without coffee didn't sound appealing at all. I considered using a paper towel, but decided I wasn't that desperate. I really need to get used to running without coffee anyway just in case something like this happens on race day. So I finished up my water and hit the road... My sister's neighborhood is fairly new so her streets aren't even on maps yet, it's just a big blank space where she lives so I couldn't map it out but I figured I'd just run for a couple hours and call it a day. I got about 5 miles in and just couldn't keep going. I was so blah!! It was super frustrating, but at least I got 5 miles in. So I headed back home to shower and get ready for the day. Spent the day not doing much. DF and I ran some errands, I got my earrings fixed, and then in the afternoon we decided to head back home.

Sunday my parents' came to our house for the day so we did lots of walking looking at wedding reception venues. We toured several places and I think we've finally settled on the Hilton hotel. It really is the best option because it's the most inclusive and has everything we need right there. I think I'm going to email the gal today to get some paperwork started. My mom also helped me look at some invitations so DF and I are going to look at those tonight. Our time is qiuckly disappearing so we've got to get moving on these plans if we're going to be married! There are so many small details that I didn't realize we'd have to plan, so we need to make some of the big decisions ASAP so we can get to the small one. I think once we have the reception site booked a lot of other stuff will fall into place. My mom also kindly offered to set up some cake-tastings for me so I think she's going to try to do those this coming weekend. I really am not enjoying planning my own wedding, as bad as that sounds. It's just so stressful!! My mom realized that and said she'd do some of the minor planning and scheduling stuff so I just have to make decisions. I have no idea if that helps or not, but it's worth a shot! (:

I'm also going to hopefully order my wedding dress this weekend so I'm going to really kick butt working out this week so I can feel confident ordering the size I am right now and knowing that I'll get to alter it down. At least that's my plan. One place I tried on dresses told me I need to order a 6 (yeah, she was on something I'm pretty sure!) but most other places are telling me a size 8 so I'm completely comfortable with that! Woohoo! My half marathon is less than a month away so that will coincide nicely with ordering my wedding dress. (:

Alright, gotta hit the pavement. Keep on workin hard Sparkies!!! I'm still around even if I'm not as active as I wish I could be.

emoticon To start with no coffee - Yikes! I don't drink it, but both my parents did, and I knew to stay away from them until after their first cup!

The Hilton is a nice place - I have been to events there and have enjoyed their set-up each time. My offer still stands - give me a call or SparkMail or email if you need help!

Wow, what a busy weekend! I have went to make coffee and had no filters. That's an awful way to start the day. I broke my morning coffee habit last year. I drink it maybe a few times a month. Now I have a glass of ice water every morning. It wakes me up just as fast now.
Good luck with the wedding planning. Sounds like you got it under control though. My bf gave me the best advice on wedding planning after hers. She said, plan the wedding, but focus on the marriage. That makes all the little hiccups seem ok.

Oh I would be so mad if I spent that long searching for a coffee pot only to find no filters, lol! Toilet paper works in a pinch too (according to my hubby - I don't drink coffee very often):)

Sounds like a successful weekend! I would have used the paper towels.....I can't imagine running without having a little caffeine in the veins.
