Skechers Shape Ups: Day 2
Friday, May 07, 2010
I wore my Skechers to work today. I walked over 10, 500 steps in them (so far). I guess they passed a test of sorts.
I have flexible flat feet, so I normally wear motion-control shoes with custom orthotics. I was concerned at first they these might not provide enough motion control for me, but they are working very well, even though they are not specifically designated as motion-control shoes. The thick, multilayer sole that gives the shoe its rocker shape controls foot movement very well, and the uppers are pretty substantial too in the "Metabolize" model that I bought.
Skechers makes Shape Ups in a number of different styles, but only a few of these come in wider widths, so I had fewer choices. I usually order C/D width. Fortunately, they come in black, which is what I need for the office.
My arthritic metatarsal joint feels fine, and so do my toes. That takes care of two problems. It's a little too early to expect the inflammation in my peroneal tendon (right foot) to have improved much, but at least it doesn't seem to be aggravating it. I did a *little* running on Wednesday with no increase in discomfort, so I may try again tomorrow, with different shoes, of course.
So far so good. It would be so great to be able to run regularly again.
