Ah Ha Moments

After joining sparkpeople.com I decided to rededicate myself to healthier living and losing weight. I had been on Weight Watchers for a year and lost 55lbs. I found myself slacking and getting complacent. I needed something new and fresh and the spark diet seemed to fit the bill. My ah ha moments have come after doing some counting. I haven't been a calorie counter for a very long time, so when I began to count calories, carbs, fat and protein I was amazed at how many carbs I am consuming without realizing it. Carbs seem to lurk everywhere. I also really started to measure again instead of eyeballing it (never a good idea when serious about losing weight). I was again amazed when I actually measure the creamer for my coffee. My eyeballing it was actually consuming about 4x the amount I was accounting for.
So here I am counting and accounting for everything. Trying to eliminate what I have labeled the unnecessary carbs. I am finding that eating these simple carbs lead me to crave more and also to crave sweets.
Although I joined Sparkpeople a few weeks ago this is my first week of actually putting forth total effort. It feels so good.
