Tried something NEW!!!

Yep, I can say I tried something new tonight. I bought one of those Gymboss devices that you can set intervals on as I wanted to see if I could try and jog a bit and walk a bit just to get my heart rate up and maybe burn a few more calories.
I have a friend I walk with who pushes me but we haven't kept track of how long and of course I'm curious. He wants to get to where we run rather than walk and we may in time.
Anyway, the new toy arrived yesterday and today was so nice that I went out tonight and gave it a go. I walked down the road to a nearby road that is a deadend and flat - completely flat! I set the Gymboss to do something simple. I decided I'd walk to this location as my 'warm up' and then I did a 1 minute run and a 2 minute walk using my racewalk technique and focusing on my breathing. I did this road which is just under a mile long doing this 1/2 intervals and then into a nearby subdivision. I figured about 4 miles I went using this walk/jog (very slow run) before I got back to the main road where I walked home as my cool down. Now for some additional stretching but I feel good. My legs feel different than if I'd gone for a walk but I feel strong. The temp was good for me. I got warm and sweaty but not overheated where I have issues. And I went prepared as I also have 'leaking' issues. Oh joy! LOL
Next time out, I will bump it up and do 1 1/2 minutes run and 2 minute walk or maybe make it equal time. I will see. Anyway, it felt good to try something different.
Maybe someday I too can say I'm a runner!! LOL
