Still on track

Thursday, March 04, 2010

Yep, Today will make day 4 of 25k steps. I know I'll get there. Hard to believe 100k in 4 days is doable but I'm proof of it and feeling good. Only 3 more to go, then I'll take a bit of a break. LOL

On a funnier note, yesterday I get a text from Ava's mom. She had a bit of a mishap. She is nursing and was pumping when she had one of those mishaps that she spilled a couple of ounces of milk. No biggie - right? Well, if it hadn't been that it landed all over her laptop it would of been just 'spilled' milk. No worries of not having enough either. So her laptop was clearly not in need of breast milk nor had any idea what to do with it so of course the keys are stuck, etc. She did manage to get a backup done before the keyboard quit on her and was able to hook up a keyboard and get it done. Clearly no idea if the computer was damaged. So, a call to Grumpa (the computer guy) and my picking it up (got another short visit with Ava) and off I was with her laptop. Rather than be impulsive, like she is at 22 and run out and buy a new one, she decided to see if Grumpa could work his magic. He had that thing torn part and messed with it for sometime and determined the computer is fine. The keyboard is another issue but for $36 he can replace it and save her a ton of $$. She is thrilled. Plus he can clean it up for her since it is running sluggishly, etc. What's funnier to me is Grumpa can't wait to do an autopsy on the old keyboard. You can see thru this flimsy little thing but he's not sure if he rips it apart he could clean it and put it back together but the notion of being a six year old and doing so after it is back together with a new one is his idea of "FUN"! LOL

So hopefully come early next week, if the new keyboard arrives quickly, she'll be back in business and a lesson on what NOT to do while pumping.

Ok I now know there is a reason I do not have a pedometer.... 25k steps is daunting enough without looking at 100K. Awesome. I have severe back problems when I walk a great distance so take 2 miles at a time but have no idea how many steps that is. What you are doing is so very, very impressive.

What is also impressive is the wonderful relationship you have developed with Ava's mom that she feels she can depend upon the two of you for help in all matters.

We went to the French Mkt and saw Oscar the plastic pin maker. I just had to make a point of doing that after you told me about him. Just reporting back. I think of you evry day. Hugs Sandy

Weezie - you are doing marvelous on sticking with the goal you've set! You always amaze me.

As for Grumpa fixing the lap top, all men love to solve dilemma's and this is right up his expertise alley!

Congratulations for staying on track with your steps - that's a high goal you've set for yourself there. I couldn't help but grin when you described Sara's dilemma with the breast milk and computer, but I felt kind of proud of her too ... her response to the accident was very mature.

    emoticon Sara!!!

... and your DH sounds like a very useful guy to have around!

My DH is the same way. He LOVES a good project and where some DHs would run for the hills when presented with a problem or broken item, he is up for the challenge. In fact it is better to keep him busy with projects or he will think up his own... not always good. emoticon

That is really quite an accomplishment! I thought I was doing good, but I rarely make 25,000 in a day! I think 30K was my best ever and that doesn't happen too eften. Keep up the good work!
