I shop when I'm hungry and it works for me

Sunday, February 28, 2010

I had my turkey, pork and chicken in the cart buypassing the beef, when I went into the ready made frozen foods and saw hamburg/macaronni/tomato dish in the other side of the frozen food window and I wanted it so badly.

So, I went back, picked up the ground chuck, and brought it home. I fried it all up, cooked some macaroni and added it all together. I used petite cut delmonte, two cans. (Yes, I wanted to cook egg plant and zuchinni and add to this...no time, lousey looking egg plant) So I had a dish, and then I put a cup of the mixture into baggies and into the freezer. I have about eight of them in a bag frozen for quick meals.

I put the chicken in the lower shelf, cooking the turkey necks now, finished the hamburger mixture and in the freezer and the pork into the freezer. The hamburger cost me 5.50 approximately, and my total bill came to 55.00 approx.

The prices in this store are increasing dramatically, will shop closer next time.

The next time, I'll measure the cooked ground chuck into the baggies then add measured tomatoes and measured macaroni, if I'm interested in finding out how my meat proportion is.

We watch for sales on meat to stock up. There are four of us, two teens. Yes, I have chili and prepared meat for casseroles in our freezer, too. It helps for those times you do not want to cook everything from scratch.
