"And then the day came, when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."

- Anais Nin, Danish diarist

I love this quote. What risks are we willing to take in order to bloom?

EDIT: I have a bonus quote that works well here, too!

Here's the Quotation for Tuesday, February 9, 2010...

"If you look into your own heart, you find nothing wrong there, what is there to fear?"

~ Confucius (BC 551-479, Chinese ethical teacher, philosopher)

I think our journeys here represent the transformation from buds to blossoms. It is a lifelong jouney.

I absolute love this first quote. I do remember seeing it a long time ago but it really didn't mean much to me at the time. I will be printing it out and hanging it up.

    Thank you so much!!!

Thanks. I just spent a few minutes practicing and memorizing this:

    And then the day came,
    when the risk
    to remain tight
    in a bud
    was more painful
    than the risk
    it took
    to Blossom.

I love the Anais Nin quote.

It's all about assessing risks of *whatever* and determining if the risk of inaction is greater than the risk of action. And there's always the boiling point where the risk of action, with all of its uncomfortableness and uncertainty just *can't* be worse than remaining in a suboptimal situation.

It's interesting how, for different people, and/or for different situations, those measures of comfort and risk shift.

It's an apt quote for me right now, though, with my push to make exercise a part of my life, not something I know I need to do, and with my search for work that will be more fulfilling/more suited to my talents (I should be able to more easily list my strengths and talents, shouldn't I?).

I love the quotes, especially the first one. I wish my mind was wired this way. LOL.
