All Things Work Together For Good

Sunday, February 07, 2010

My Blog Title is taken from the Bible, Romans 8:28, written by Paul, formerly known as Saul of Tarsus, who was a Pharisee and persecutor of Jews who turned to Christianity. When he met Jesus on the road to Damascus (story in Acts 9) his life was changed forever. I mention this because I want to talk about how God uses even the worst of circumstances for good.

A few days ago I received an email from a friend informing me that another friend of ours was in a motorcycle accident in Sarasota, FL on I275 killing his wife. Now these two had a wonderful relationship for well over 35 years and he is now devastated that he lost the love of his life. He is very despondent and all he talks about now is that he wants to die too.

Since this accident occurred, a former very good friend of his heard about the incident and made his way down to Sarasota to be at his side. What is so remarkable about this is that they have been estranged for years and probably never dreamed they would see one another again.

My brother was also a good friend of these two and he called me today to inform me that when these two old friends finally re-connected they cried together for five hours! There were apologies from the one who opened up that he deeply regretted his past behavior toward my brother and this broken man who now needs a lot of support and encouragement. My brother is also going to Sarasota to see two dear, old friends who meant so much to him in the past but because of ego, envy and brokenness they remained separated for years...

Yes, it is a sad thing that this gentleman lost the love of his life but through her death God worked it out for good that three best buddies found their way back to each other in order to help one get through a very traumatic situation in his life.

I ask that you pray for this man and his family for their loss and please pray for these three buddies that they can truly find God and the good in this unfortunate circumstance.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

Only our loving Father could bring goodness and love from tragedy. I am so sorry for the loss of that man's wife but praise God! He turned things around and comforted that man with the comfort that only He can give. I will remember them all in my prayers. God is indeed GOOD! emoticon

Kat, thank you for sharing that even in the midst of a tragedy, the God of reconciliation, the God of invitation, can bring people together in a very open and loving way....the friends needed one another, and they were lead to share tears and forgiveness....and the support that will be so crucial at this moment.
