my boss is making me exercise?

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Somewhat amusing work story. Every month we have to meet with our
manager to discuss individualized work goals, how close we came to
meeting the goal, setting new goals. Well, I had that meeting today.
The goal that everyone was working on for the month was 'decision
making' but somehow my boss and I got off on real tangent. I'm not
sure how it came up but the fact that I had lost around 60-70 lbs over
three years ago and have kept it off for over three years came up. She
had remembered how large I was back then. I enthusiastically told my
boss about how I have been doing the P90X extreme workout geared
toward athletic men and I was going into my third week of the 12 week
program. I thought she was joking when she said she was going to make
my goal for the month be continue working on P90X, but she wasn't. She
actually wrote that down for my goal, claiming that exercising and
making healthy decisions was 'good decision making' and would trickle
down to help decision making on the job.

I thought that was amusing. So now I really have to stick with my intense workout program.

sounds like you have a great boss!! If she can see & work with the whole you..she's right, she will get better results from you as an employee! Good for her, good for you for losing the weight & keeping it off & good for you for starting the new program. You both rock!

That is awesome. Having your job help with incentive (though it seems you don't even need more incentive) in continuing your exercise regiment. It seems that your good decision making is working for you in two ways. Two big gains for doing something that you were already doing. :-D Keep it up!! emoticon

btw what program is it? i'm pretty interested in seeing if there is something like that around where i live.

That is awesome. I think that if more workplaces would emphasize healthy choices, productivity would skyrocket.
