For my first race :)
I'm running the Race to Wrigley 5K on April 24. I am excited. My goal is finish and hopefully do it in under 30 minutes, but really I just want to finish and run the entire race (no walking).
One of the women on my hockey team is going to run the race with me. I'm so glad she said she would join me. I can't chicken out now :)
I'm planning on using the cool runnings beginner 5k training program. It is 12 weeks long, so I should start it in a few weeks. I'm going to do the first few weeks twice because I'm ready to start training now.
So far for week 1 this is what I have done:
Mon - 3 miles in 31:30
Tue - 3 miles in 30:52
Wed - 2 miles in 19:30
I need to run another 3 miles one day and 4 miles one day this week. The 4 miles is going to be a distance record for me (I think), so I'm a little nervous. I might not follow the program exactly because 5 days of running per week is a lot especially if I have a few hockey games that week. But I want to be running at least 10 miles a week.
