A thankful heart, my 21 week pregnancy update and my goals for today...

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

After yesterdays amazing 10 mile walk, I am setting a goal of walking 3 miles. We are driving up to Dallas today and my parents will FINALLY get to find out the sex of their grand baby on the way!! We are looking forward to a lovely dinner and special time with them as we present them with a gift that will tell them if it is a boy or girl!

My pregnancy is still going well and I feel great. My appetite is strong, make that very strong but I find logging my foods and making goals each day a wonderful way to control cravings and overall daily consumption. I have to keep this mindset this week as we attend 2 family Thanksgivings. The fist is at my in laws. For those who do not know my husband is half Thai. His Mom is from Thailand and makes the most amazing food! So for Thanksgiving instead of the traditional turkey and dressing, she does a Thai feast! Thai food is one of my favorites so I am going to have to be every aware of how much I consume! I am doing so well and I want to be able to stay on track despite being pregnant over the holidays.

My goal of gaining 1/2 a pound a week is soon to change. In this phase of the pregnancy it is not uncommon to see weight gains of 1 lb a week. I received an email from What to Expect and other pregnancy sites and they said this week my baby will be the size of a banana! I need to really stay focused as I enter into this next phase of the pregnancy which is weight gaining time! If I can keep a steady .5 - 1 lb a week, I will be on track for my pregnancy.

I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving! I know this year my husband and I are so grateful for many things. It has been an incredible year for us. After moving back from Russia in February of this year, we were given the biggest blessing of all. In July we created a new life, our precious baby. This has been the most amazing and life changing event in our life together and it comes at a beautiful time for us. This December, we will celebrate 10 years of marriage and this anniversary will hold a very special meaning to us, unlike any other.

I am also thankful for life itself. Every morning I wake up, take a breath and give thanks to God for another day to live. Life truly is a beautiful gift. So this year I am giving thanks for many things but most of all I give thanks for my relationship with God and what it has done in not only my life but how it has blessed our marriage beyond anything we could have imagined over these past 10 years.

Goals to achieve today -
1. Drink 1.25 gallons of water - 2 liters done so far this morning....
2. Walk 3 miles - 1.55 done this morning so far....
3. Stay within 1800 - 1900 calories for the day

This weeks plan....

Monday - 10.12 mile walk - DONE!
Tuesday - 3 mile walk
Wednesday - 3 mile walk
Thursday - Early am walk - 2 miles.....Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Friday - 2 mile walk
Saturday - 2 mile walk before heading back home.
Goal 22 miles for the week

Wow, I missed your 10 mile walk blog!! Awesome! It must have felt great! Enjoy your Thanksgiving - I love Thai food too and I think a Thai meal on TG is a great idea! From your photos, I thought your hubby might be part Asian (esp. since he's so handsome!!) Also, I may have mentioned this last year, but you guys share an anniversary with my parents, who will celebrate 46 years in December. An auspicious date! Much to be thankful about. I love reading your blogs!

First off, I always appreciate how positive your blogs are and how much gratitude your heart holds-- I feel blessed to have someone like you, especially when I'm not feeling it-LOL!

I am so proud of you for taking such good care of yourself. I do caution you though, to really do fuel yourself well, as walking 10 miles burns a lot of calories and if you are hungry, you should eat! It's good to keep track, but your body is actually craving something when it is hungry- it might not need chocolate and all, but it might need additional food.
I do agree that staying on track is ALWAYS the best choice, especially if you think how great you'll both look and feel after you give birth!

I wish you and yours the best Thai/Traditional TG you got and a great time with your family and friends!

Hi dear one...how lucky you are..to realize how blessed you and your DH are...a new life is the biggest and BEST miracle there is. What an exciting time in both of your lives! I'm truly, truly happy for you and your families!

Oh my...Thai food is my idea of heaven. We have a little Thai restaurant near our home "Passage to India" my DH isn't too much into different foods so it's a special treat for all my girlfriends and I..we go there for birthday celebrations and just love it!

You are so smart to stay on track throughout your pregnancy...many women use this time in their lives to take a holiday from prudent weight and exercise habits...good for you in realizing that you are doing both yourself and your little one a great service by staying on track and healthy! Don't stress too much about a few extra calories here and there...as long as you fill up on mostly fruits and veggies..you are just packing in more good nutrition..all the more for little one's health and development.

During my first pregnancy I just couldn't get ENOUGH fruits and of all things I truly truly loved dandelion greens...go figure..but I only gained about 30 pounds and since my daughter weighed 9 lbs. (yep they grow em big in Iowa) I was down to size in no time!

Be well dear one..you are truly blessed and we are all SO HAPPY for you! emoticon

AWESOME, AWESOME job staying healthy...you should be so proud of yourself.

As for Thai...I'm marinating chicken satay for dinner with jasmine rice. Enjoy it, I know it will be WONDERFUL!

Jen - How exciting, this is a great week for both set of parents!!! And congratulations on your 10th wedding anniversary. You certainly are blessed and is so great that you recognize that which is why God keeps and will continue to bless you and your family!
Great job staying on track. You are an inspiration girl. I am learning a lot from you for when I get pregnant. I am honestly terrified of gaining all the weight back - but I know that I am in a good track to avoid that, not that we are getting pregnant soon, at least not that we plan ;)
    Happy Tuesday!!!
