This Week's Goal - Keep Breathing

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

The stress clouds are descending. Sleep is already suffering and so, by association, are my morning workouts. Try as I might, I am already feeling ill about what's ahead.

To recap:
16NOV - 2 PowerPoint presentations due / DONE!

20NOV - One take-home final due, give said presentations in-class / Final almost finished, presentations are not even on my list of things to worry about

21NOV - Design of Experiments paper AND in-class presentation due / This is half-finished and, honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing

23NOV - 2nd Take Home Final due / Except now the prof moved the date back where it was originally, to 02DEC. I haven't started it but, honestly, I don't want to worry about it for an extra week!

My food is still on track, but the messed up sleep is affecting other life areas. I'm pretty stressed, trying not to feel crabby and it's hard to stay focused (let alone motivated).

I'll keep chipping away and wishing for a quick end to this awfulness.

Thank you to all my SparkFriends for the encouragement. It really does help, and I appreciate that you are checking in.

I know it won't help for me to tell you not to worry but I will remind you of what you already know. Most of the things we worry about never happen so it's a monumental waste of time. You are not going to flunk so why worry. I have held some of the highest positions at my places of employment and not once was I ever asked what grades I made. LOL. Unless you go into education I doubt that you will be asked either.

I have problems with sleeping and what keeps me awake is the same as my son - not being able to quiet our overactive minds. I'm sure stupid people have no problems sleeping. LOL. So I visualize a beach with me sitting on it in the sun and the surf is very noisy and there are no sounds other than the waves and the gulls. I don't allow myself to think about anything but looking out to sea. It has helped me and may give you some ideas that would work for you.

If you will take time to meditate for 20 minutes it will help you concentrate better when you return. I would pencil in the exercise too - short bursts - they are a great stress reliever. You will be more focused after.

Deep breathes is right. Good eating, exercise when you can and as much sleep as you can grab. I feel for you.

Keep breathing and exercise. No matter what- even 15 minutes will help you manage the stress levels.
