How do you find motivation for a workout?

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

So yeah! I still haven't started exercising. AND I made 2 cakes in the past 4 days. I had some of the first, which I tried to make as healthy as possible. I covered it in light whipped cream and topped it with strawberries. Tasted like heaven! But I didn't over-indulge. Thank God. I really just NEED to start exercising. How do you all find the motivation? I can do the healthy eating thing with no problem. BUT saying the E-word to me is like cursing me out. Please tell me how you motivate yourself to get up and work out.

Every minute of my 30 minute run is hard and I have to force myself to keep going. I am jealous of those people who say they love exercising because I sure don't. Pump some good music and keep a positive mantra in your head. And actually the last 2 minutes feel pretty good because I get a feeling of accomplishment. But that does not make the next day any easier. You just have to suck it up and do it cause ya got ta!!

Make up your mind to do 10-15 minutes a day and just do that. More than likely you'll be past that time frame before you know it. Try using an iPod with your favorite music that makes you want to dance. I started by walking 30 minutes 3-4 days a week with iPod on. Now I'm using multiple DVDs that mix it up and keeps me motivated. Set up a challenge for yourself. Just start today for 15 minutes, just start

I have been hit and miss in the past with consistent exercise but I have finally found something I like and that is the walking/running method. I have been doing 5ks with walking over this past summer and into fall and I have a goal set for being able to run an entire 5k without walking but I am taking it very very slow. In 7 weeks I have lost inches and about 13 pounds by consistent exercise and eating 3 healthy balanced meals a day with a couple of healthy snacks in there. I sit all day for my job but try to keep busy with moving after work. Try 10 minutes of walking (just 10) for one week and then the next week make it 15 minutes and you will start to get used to it and find you have more energy. Baby steps!!!! but start today!!

I like doing things that are social - it helps me feel accountable to someone outside of me. Currently I go to a class 3 times a week and if I miss a day, I hear about it.

It is also fun to try new things - gyms will have free passes or let you try a class for free to see if you like it.

Also - great job on making a cake and not over-indulging :) emoticon

Just start! I practically have to fight myself to get going but once I start, I'm good. Once you get one workout in, the others just fall in line. It's like your body and your brain are finally on the same page.

I don't know if I'm the best person to talk about this...I exercise because I know it's good for me...I feel more awake, and I can tell how much stronger I'm getting...I don't particularly like it. I've tried many different forms, and none of them make me passionate about exercising. There are some I like better than others, but nothing I just LOVE doing. I get through it by knowing all of the benefits. You just have to get up and get moving...hopefully you'll be lucky enough to find something that you love to do...or when you start to see results, you'll be so motivated by that, you'll keep going. Good luck!

Cholestrol is non racial to fat or skinny people they both die if don't do anything healthy- if we don't exercise the results of healthy eating are slower and skinny people whom don't exercise pack on fat around their vital organs and don't piece together headaches and pain could be congestive heart disease...
In my family thin people just drop dead, the fat people are crippled by their weight..
When I am active I feel good about myself. I make sure I love what I eat and enjoy my exercise with something I like to do...

Start small and just do it. Don't think, just do it. Most of the battle is just getting started because once your adrenaline gets flowing the desire will come. But again, start small and build up incrementally. Also, what's helped me is finding an exercise for which I have a lot of passion, namely, cycling. I just love being on my bike and so it's no chore for me to do so.

So, three things: start small, just do it, find a passion.

    Hope this helps.
