I suppose when there is a gain, it isn't exactly a plateau but I have been 'stuck' for too long. (The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I gained a pound and now my plateau is a pound higher than it was a month ago.)

Recently I have been walking for about an hour every day and still no weight change. I am having difficulty staying positive. I have been more conscientious about keeping my food log. When I think about how much better my habits are now than they were in the past I know I have made progress but I am wondering what I have to do to start losing again.

Littlewinds has good comments. Checking to make sure your daily caloric intake is appropriate is a good first step. When you are stuck, it is a good idea to make changes in your daily routines. Walk a more challenging route. Add more variety to your menu. Eat smaller amounts but more often.

I know how exasperating it is to have the scale saying the same thing every week, or worse yet, see the number go up. You are exercising Judy and tracking your food and these are good things. So often we are intiminated by that number on the scale that it becomes the most important thing to us, or rather me most of the time.

Just keep doing what your doing Judy, and remember how far you have come along with better habits. That by far is more important than the number.

Have you checked your caloric targets? Are they too high or too low?

You may also need to start ramping up the exercise. On your walks, try a spring here and there. Mix in some strength training, go swimming, use a stepper or a dance video. There are lots of things you could try. Anything so that you are not doing the same exercises every day, day after day.

Our bodies get used to doing the same exercise over and over, so we have to remind it occasionally that it still has to do it's part.

Good luck. I wish you well.
