This week's goals!
Monday, October 19, 2009
A fellow Sparker - GORDIESMOMMY - posted her weekly goals to her blog yesterday. I thought about it and realized that she's got the right idea! A week is a great length of time to fit in a number of activities AND it provides enough time to map them out in my schedule. I also know that posting them here gives me an extra layer of accountability. I often get new ideas from member posts, so feedback is encouraged!!
1 - Reasonable Bed Times, Up and Down
I need my rest! I use sleep as an excuse to skip workouts. Instead, I should be using workouts as my excuse to go to bed at a decent time. When I get the sleep that I need, everything turns out better! Stop hitting the snooze bar and start the day fresh!
2 - Workout, Even Just For 20 Minutes
Too often I think that I lack the time for a workout. The reality is that I don't need as much time as I think I do. I'm fairly organized and can get ready in no time, so why postpone a chance to get stronger and healthier?
3 - Curb the Cocktails
I've been looking for stress relief in the wrong place. A cocktail or two might make me feel better, but it messes up my sleep (see #1 above!) and adds calories that I'm trying to burn (see #2 above!). Doing the math, I only have myself to blame for making this more difficult than it needs to be. That's not to say that I won't drink - I am a realist - but I need to make sure that I accept the consequences and consider what a drink will do to my goals. Just like junk food or a high-calorie treat, I need to budget appropriately!
4 - Make More Me Time
Thanks to the One Day Challenge Team, I've been tracking the times that I do things just for me. Like most people, I put myself at the back of the line; everyone else comes first. This week I'm going to "take cuts" and sneak in more time for the things that make me happy.
Here's hoping that everyone makes this a great week, no matter your goals or plans!
