I've done it!

Saturday, August 22, 2009

I've done it!!! I've done it!!! I am so excited. I have reached my first goal of losing 30 pounds. My glucose levels remain normal, I'm more fit, I feel so much better with more energy and my inches are coming off. No one has noticed I have lost the weight yet but I know it's only a matter of time until I hear the questions of "did you get a new haircut?" is that a new outfit?" or have you lost some weight?" I had planned on buying myself a very luxurious cotton nightgown when I reached this first goal. Now I have the fun of going shopping and the added benefit of more exercise because of the walking! What a win/win situation. Now my next goal is to lose 26 pounds. I now have the task of deciding how I am going to reward myself when I reach my goal. I am thinking of a few things: A full day at the spa, a new outfit or a fun trip to Vegas. So far Vegas is winning, or not!!!

This journey has been an experience of discovery. I've had some hard days and even weeks but my determination remains solid. I can and I will lose this weight. I've carried the burden of feeling that I did not deserve to be fit and feeling good for far too long and once I felt I was worthy it seems that the weight is falling off all by itself. I haven't had to work near as hard as I thought I would have to. Oh I've had the days where I fell off the wagon but I didn't even get mad at myself or run myself down I just told myself I enjoy how I feel so much more now and I have so much more energy so why would I punish myself by staying off the wagon, so I got right back on and in5 months I have managed to meet my first goal.

My next challenge is the next three weeks. Our pool is closed for annual maintenance. I was at first worried about not getting my exercise in and then I remembered we have a wonderful brand new track and field and the track is rubber. Easy on the knees and joints so I'll go walking. I've even invited my grand daughter and great granddaughter (she's almost three) to join me. So starting on Monday it's off to the track. We also have some lovely beaches to find driftwood so for the next three weeks that is what I'll be doing.

Congratulations to you! You have every right to be proud of this accomplishment. I know it's not easy. It is taking me longer than I thought it would to reach my goal weight, but like I always say, I'm in this for the long haul. Best wishes for your continued success.
