In the Navy Now...

Friday, April 10, 2009

Well...mission accomplished I suppose. I started this whole Sparkpeople thing in order to lose enough weight to enlist in the United States Navy. Well...on April 1st (yes April Fool's Day) I enlisted, last week I took my DLAB (Defense Language Aptitude Battery) and got the job I wanted and I ship out to Basic Training in just under two weeks. Funny how something that took me three years to achieve is now all of the sudden happening so fast. I am incredibly excited and more than a little nervous. I owe a good deal of my success to Sparkpeople.com and all the people I've met and interacted with in the Sparkteams. It is a great program if you give it a chance to work and actually keep honest with it...and while I've reached the original purpose of joining Sparkpeople I still have more to lose (about 12 more pounds and I'll be in the "Average" range for my weight) and then after that there will still be the need to make sure I maintain so I doubt I'm even close to done with Sparkpeople...but I'm definitely at a pause...at least until I get back from Basic....

Wow, Congratulations on a FANTASTIC accomplishment! You did it! WooHoo!

To be honest, you may wind up coming out of BASIC a lot closer to your goals than you think. As I recall, there is a great deal of exercise to be had there. LOL!

Keep up the great work, and know we'll be keeping you in our prayers!
