Discouraged

Friday, March 13, 2009

So, I know I haven't been at this very long, only about 2 weeks or so, but I've been working really hard those past 2 weeks with: walking every day, doing at least 15 minutes of a workout DVD - usually more than 15 minutes & pretty much every day, counting cals., drinking at least 4 glasses of water a day - only water too, and eating healthy - more veggies, fruits etc.

So far I seem to be meeting my nutritional goals on SP...so when I weighed in this morning I was surprised to see that I gained 2 pounds more than my start weight! This is so discouraging because I've been working really really hard and I'm not seeing any results! The way I ate and lived before I pretty much maintained my weight and now I'm doing a lot more cardio and eating a lot less, but I'm gaining! It's so frustrating!! I've heard you gain weight before you lose any but with as much as I've been doing I was sure I would have lost something......I'm sooo discouraged at the moment! emoticon

I too had a bad week. Got on the scale after 2 weeks of solid tracking and meeting my goals and I was up the entire amount of weight I had lost - 5 1/2 pounds! I was really discouraged but I keep at it and guess what?! The 5 1/2 pounds came off plus another 1/2 pound! Water retention?

Check your sodium intake and as LJClAY said, maybe you're not eating enough! Wouldn't that be nice?!

Keep up the good work, you'll reach your goals!

KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING. SOUNDS LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. I KNOW I MUST KICK UP MY ACTIVITY LEVEL. THE FOOD PLAN WAS GOOD LAST WEEK BUT I GAINED A POUND. I AM ONLY GOING TO THE POOL EXERCISE 3 X'S PER WEEK AND MUST WALK IN BETWEEN DAYS. SINCE I AM 62, JUST NEED MORE ACTIVITY.
***** AND ABOUT THE SUGAR THING---I DOES GET A HOLD OF ME TOO. CAN'T JUST HAVE 1 OF ANYTHING. FRUIT IS A CONTROLLED SOURCE OF SWEETNESS FOR SURE.

Don't be discouraged, it happens to me even if I just eat one piece of any sweet. I just have to stay away from sweets! - Now I won't eat anything sweet, other than fruit. I find that I have to stick to my schedule daily and NOT vary at all. Just pick yourself up, and start again. Think positive!!!

I can see how you would be frustrated. Are you eating enough and not putting your body into starvation mode so that it saves everything you eat? Are you adding your wine to the nutrition tracker or is is over and above your caloric intake? Also, is your cardio raising your heartbeat enough? I have to be almost to the top of my target heart range to get results.

I know, a lot of questions when I should just be saying "keep with it and you will be successful", but you have to find the right combo for that to happen. But don't give up - try different things and see what your body responds to.

Don't be, stick it out ... your body has to get used to the new changes you're putting it through and it might take a bit longer for your body to figure it out :)
Fight through it ... don't give in ... you'll be a better person for it :)
