Oh MY!

Monday, March 09, 2009

Yesterday, I went prom dress shopping with my niece, my sister, and my niece's boyfriend's mom (mother of 3 boys who was lamenting the fact that she'd never gone prom dress shopping, so my dear niece invited her to come along, and we really had a blast!!). So, after about 5 stores and too many gowns to talk about, she put on "the gown," a beautiful, elegant gown which I hope to have a picture of to show off by the end of the day...

So once the work was done, we decided to go to lunch. We walked out of the store we were in and right next to it was The Cheesecake Factory, which my sister had never been to, so that's where we went. I must admit, I wasn 't thinking much when I looked at the menu and changed my original order from a turkey burger to a Crabcake Sandwich (I mean, how bad could a crabcake sandwich be??), and it was good, though, I must admit, not the greatest sandwich I've ever had, not even close.

I was quite full after eating about 3/4 of the sandwich and about 1/2 the fries, so here is the one really positive thing I have to say about this eating experience: I stopped eating when I was full. More than progress for this charter member of the Clean Plate Club, absolute victory. In fact, I was so full, I never ate another bite all of yesterday or yesterday night.

This morning, I decided to go online and see if I could find any nutritional info for what I'd eaten so I could fill in my food tracker. Find it I did. Are you ready???

Crabcake Sandwich:

1,157 calories
18 grams of saturated fat (goodness only knows how many total grams of fat!)
2,069 grams of sodium
71 grams of carbohydrates

Okay, that's practically a full day's worth of all of those things. And the worst thing, as I've said: it wasn't even that good!!! The scariest thing? That sandwich was among the LOWEST calorie sandwiches on the menu.. Beware, beware, they seem to be out to get us..

Sounds like you had a great day. In your "old" life you would have rolled right on and had cheese cake with that sandwich, and not even thought about the calories. So, you had fun with family and friends, you ate a new place, had an OK meal and lived to tell.

What a lucky girl to be surrounded by so much love. I know she will realize how fortunate she is one day. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, you really do have to be careful. I try to order things without the sauces and no fries. It helps a bit?
