It's be been a while..

..since I've bared my soul via the blog.. And I don't know if this is the time to do it even now.. But I've had this urge to write, so here I am, waiting for the subject that seems to be tugging at me to show itself.

I remember a long time ago, being told that it's normal to be up when we're up, and it's normal to be down when we're down, the question is, what do we do the rest of the time?? How do we make the most of our lives without forcing ourselves into a manic frenzy, or analyzing ourselves into a depressive state?

It's funny, at the time I had that conversation, it seemed like all I had were those up or down extremes. These days, I have many more of the "in the middle" times, and I think it's time for me to re-examine for myself how to get the most out of these: how to stay motivated without burning myself out, and conversely, how to deal with the bad stuff without beating myself up.

I'm not really in a crisis about this, but I do think that every once in a while, it helps to remind myself that staying on an even keel is what healthy living is about. I'm not talking about times that someone is sick and we're worried, or that good stuff is happening all around us and we're in a celebratory mood, I'm talking about the every day get up, work out, make lunches, shower, get DS ready for school, me ready for work, getting out the door, going to work and dealing with whatever it holds for the day, picking up DS, doing homework, doing any activities the day calls for, making and eating dinner, nighttime showering, reading, praying.. I mean all of that is an every day occurrence, and it can sometimes seem like drudgery...yet somehow, we women do most or all of this every single day.. How do we not go crazy??

We do not go crazy because we are strong. We do not go crazy because when we need to catch our breath, we log on to SP and we share what we are thinking and feeling and we get our lift, we get our energy and strength, usually from our SP teammates. I guess that's what I've been aching to say, that SPs role in the healthy living that this journey we're all on is about is priceless, it helps keep us grounded and moving forward.

So thanks to SP for being there, but mostly, thanks to all my teammates for helping to provide a place to put all the stuff that I put here regularly, and helping me to realize, reading post after post, that I am not alone, either in the stuff I have to deal with or in feeling the way I feel about it all.

I---LOVE---THIS---BLOG!! I came here first thing THIS morning, Tina, and I've been pondering and brain-storming about THIS blog ALL DAY LONG! Thoughts are in my head... wheels are turning... and I'm going to be putting a lot of your words into my head for DAYS! LOL! You pointed out that this is something every single one of us must go through every single day. Not just the highs- not just the lows, but the days in- the days out 'going through the motions' SAME OL' SAME OL' (S.S.D.D. same ____ different day) but you're the one who took the time to put it into words!!

Tina, PLEASE come to me and share ANYTHING else that you're thinking about along these lines, because, it's really got me in a THINK FEST and I'm THRILLED!! You're right, again... this Sisterhood of SparkPeople (or Brotherhood) is such a GREAT gift from Chris Downie!! I know he gets a gad-zillion thanks everyday but I could thank him every single day and never get tired of thanking him! If you get the chance... read this SP blog. It's right along the same lines as what you wrote TODAY... which, btw, is International Women’s Day, TODAY!!
