Am I Technologically Challenged, Or What???

Monday, August 04, 2008

Okay, so I bought the iPod Shuffle. I went to the iStore, and bought and downloaded some great "get moving" songs, and boy, I was excited. Everything was happening just as I said it would happen. But, did downloading the songs to my computer equate to putting them on the iPod? Not sure.. but it was getting late last night. I clicked "help" and it told me it was so simple...just click iPod on the destination pane and my playlist on the source pane.... Have no idea where these "panes" are located, and it was getting later, and later... Clicked here and there, and it was even later, so I left the iPod hooked up to the computer so it could charge, and then this morning, there was a message that synchronization was complete on the iPod...so I figureed that meant the songs were downloaded. This morning, before leaving for work, I took my new little toy, plugged the earphones in...turned it on...and..........no music, no nothing.

Okay, here's the thing. This is supposed to be easy. I am really NOT a dope when it comes to this stuff, I can usually figure things out eventually. But I'm not having any luck, and the impact is on my excitement over my new purchase which is supposed to help me with my get moving goals.

Frustrated is a good word, at least it's a G-rated word for me right now... there are lots of R-rated words I can add, but won't because this is s family blog...

Sigh, tonight is another night....

Tina, I feel for you. Sometimes directions are not meant for us, but for other "TECHNO" geeks, lol. I tried to to set up a new phone a few months back via the computer because it would have been $25 to do over the phone. I struggled for awhile then I started to get frustrated and cry (really), so I phoned and explained, they tried walking me through, and then they realized I was right, as they walked me through I kept saying I did that, then that and so on and so on. I think they wanted you to do the phone start up so they could collect the $25, but they waived my $25 fee and set me up over the phone.

I hope you will be hearing your tunes soon!

Hmm...did you actually "create a playlist" with your purchased tunes? Because there is a dragdown item that says "create playlist" if I recall. I don't have an iPod but I move tunes around with iTunes and have copied purchased tunes to CDs. If you bought just a few individual tunes and not a whole album then it's very possible that you don't have a playlist yet. iTunes doesn't like to copy stuff to CD (and I would assume not to iPod either) fo if you haven't yet created a playlist. Just choose 'create playlist" from one of the dragdown menus, then drag all of your new tunes onto that playlist (it creates it instantly), THEN try copying that playlist onto your iPod (that should take about 30 seconds per song that you burn over). Beyond that I don't know how to help, but calling their service line should be quick and help you get what you need.
