Happy Canada Day!!

I started off Canada Day with a long run this morning. I'm not a morning runner at all, in fact I hate mornings. I usually go running around 8 at night and find this to be the most convenient for my schedule and also the best for trying to run in hot weather. We have plans tonight though so I knew I had to run in the morning. After waiting a bit for my breakfast to digest I headed out, but about 3 miles into it I just wanted to head home. It was too hot, my stomach wasn't cooperating and I just couldn't get my breathing right. I was supposed to do 12 miles today, but decided to call it quits after 9 miles and change. It's so not like me to quit. I felt so weak and exhausted. I don't know what's wrong with me lately. I just have to hope it's the hot weather. I don't know how I could go from running a PR at my half marathon in May to struggling so much lately and having my pace slow considerably. I'm seriously doubting my ability to run a fall marathon or a marathon ever. Today after I came in from my run I told DH "I think I quit", but I'm not going to give up yet. I'm just going to have to come up with a better strategy for long runs and find something that works for me.
On a happier note, my new running shoes are working out great for my feet. Last week I got a pair of Saucony. I had two toe nails turn black after training for my last half marathon and one finally fell off last week. That toe was causing me so much pain when I ran. I went on www.mapmyrun where I track my mileage and gear and saw that I'd put over 900 miles on my Asics. No wonder my feet have been giving me such problems! I thought I'd set it up that the site as supposed to alert me when I hit 500 miles, but I guess I didn't do it right. I'm lucky all I ended up with was a lost toenail and not a serious injury.
After my daughter gets up from her nap today we're going to some big Canada Day thing that the city is putting on. There's supposed to be pony rides, a petting zoo, BBQ and then fireworks later on. I think I'm more excited about the petting zoo then my daughter is : )
