Wonderful run today

I just had the best run this morning. I feel like I've really turned the corner between struggling to LEARN to run, and being able to get out there and really run. I got up at 6 am to have a light breakfast and then set out to run a 6.37 mile hilly route at 8 am, before it got hot.
This was really my first long run by myself since I've been able to run any amount of time without taking a walk break, and it felt so wonderful and meditative. I really got into a groove and was able to stop thinking about running and just BE. My legs just kept moving... it felt natural and rhythmic... and my mind just flowed and relaxed. I was able to get to the halfway mark before I took a walk break, and then after a quick walk and stretch, ran the rest of the way without walking again. I also noticed that my heart rate really settled down, much more so than in my shorter runs, and I finished feeling energized and relaxed.
Yay! I really love to run. :) I'm so glad that I went through all the struggle and pain to start running -- because really, this is so worth it. And it's worth it for the actual running, not just for the benefits of running. I saw a quote that said, "you don't sing to get to the end of the song" -- and today wasn't about running to get to the end of the run, or to get the benefits of running, to live longer, lose weight, or lower my cholesterol. It was just about the beauty of the actual run. The movement of my body through space. The sun, the breeze, the footfall.
