There's No Stopping Me!!!
...I am just as determined as I was when I began.
My journey began on July 28, 2009. I had an annual GYN appt and while getting my blood pressure checked I was told that my BP was high. Even though my dad suffered from high blood pressure I, myself, never had an issue with it. The doctor proceeded to point out that I was weighing more at the time of that visit than when I gave birth to my 5 year old. OMG!!!!!! It was then that I had my infamous 'AHA!' moment.

Even though my dad suffered from high blood pressure I, myself, never had an issue with it. The doctor proceeded to point out that I was weighing more at the time of that visit than when I gave birth to my 5 year old. OMG!!!!!! It was then that I had my infamous 'AHA!' moment.
I immediately began "googling" weight loss sites and on August 1, 2009 I decided that I would do something about my weight. After 4 days of online searches I saw where my local recreation center was offering free evening Step classes twice a week- how could I pass that up??? I signed up and went to all the classes. I couldn't keep up half the time, however, I was determined to keep going.
After 3 weeks, they had to stop the classes. At that point I decided to join the gym at work. No excuse NOT to work out. I started out slow by using the machines for about 15-20 minutes a day. I also started taking classes - Step, Kickboxing, Spinning.
I also changed my eating habits. I added fruits & vegetables and started drinking water. I had to cut back on all those unhealthy, processed foods that I'd eat ALL the time.
Here it is, a year and a half later and I'm STILL working out and eating healthy. When I started working out I weighed about 236 lbs. I am now 170 lbs. I have another 25 lbs before I reach my maintenance level.
