Below is my introduction from a year ago when I joined Spark and changed my life. The title above will remain because it was a huge goal that I finally accomplished in October 2011.

I came up short of my 50 pound weight loss goal by about 14 pounds. I was going so strong and had an amazing summer, but I fell apart after my race and surgery this past fall.

So now I'm back. I've readjusted my weight-loss goal, now in pursuit of losing the last 14 plus some more! I also have my sights set on another half-marathon. I know that with your help and support I can do it.

Here we go....

(Original post--4/18/2011) I'm a 33 year old mother of amazing twin girls (15 months) and have been in an exercise rut, or rather stall pattern, since I was 4-months pregnant. I've been unhappy with my appearance and feel lousy. I am ready to drop the weight and start running again. I have 2 major goals--run my first half-marathon in October and drop 50 pounds by next April. Here I go!

"I often hear people say, 'I'm not a real runner.' We are all runners, some just run faster than others, that's all. I have never met a fake runner." --Bart Yasso, Runner's World Chief Running Officer and author of My Life on the Run

you are so brave to run so many marathons I have a mental block I just feel like I can't and shouldn't participate in something that take so much commitment, can't get my mind around it but so happy for you to do it repeatedly!!! you will get where you need to go just keep sparking!

Happy Sunday! I hope you're having a restfully nice day:)

I plan to race in our local TurkeyTrot 10k next month - just the kick I need to get back into running. Since my last half-marathon, I've been very unmotivated to run (the hm really kicked my butt...) My goal is to get in 8 miles per week (thanks to my daughter - that's the amount she challenged me to accomplish).

Thank you for your note on my page emoticon

You'll never believe how my life has recently taken on a new path! As a substitute teacher, I've always enjoyed working with the older kids and shied away the lower grades... Well, I subbed for a week in a preK class with autistic kids and LOVED it!!! So much so, that I applied to be the class's teacher's assistant - and was just given the job last week. It's a part-time job and doesn't pay anywhere near as much as if I just went back to work as a classroom teacher, but I just love the kids. I'm even thinking about taking classes to add SpecEd to my teaching credentials. I think being a mother of twins has really prepared me for this type of work (not that my kids had any special needs, but just the logistics of raising twins taught me lots of "tricks"...)

Thanks again for your note, and I hope you are doing well this new school year, too :)
