I've always been a believer of "if you think positive, positive things will happen." It's something I try to live by.

There comes a time when one day you wake up and realize the pounds hanging from your body are getting to be too much. You didn't start out with them there. They gradually came as the days went by. You keep telling yourself that it's only one donut, I'll make it up tomorrow. Then suddenly tomorrow becomes years from then and you start not liking the way it makes you feel. You have less energy, sleep more than you used to, have back problems from carrying all that extra weight, and things that were fun just don't seem that way anymore. That's why I'm here now. I spent years hating myself for the way I looked and knew what I was doing to my body but I had no discipline and just kept eating when I should have stopped. I should have had the strength to say no but instead I let food control my body and me as a person. But now I'm saying no to letting it control me and the things I do. I want control of my life back and I want to be healthy and have energy to chase my son around without having to catch my breath from gasping. I want to do the things that I used to just because they were fun. This journey is not going to be easy. It's going to take a lot of hard work but I know I can do it as long as I push myself and have support along the way. I don't just want this journey but I need this journey. For myself and to help me get back to the person I was and not who I became.

"It takes a dream to get started, desire to keep you going, and determination to finish." - Eddie Harris JR.
