I've been on Spark for years, and I have come to recognize that when I dedicate myself to the program, I'm successful, but when I stray, I put the weight back on!! I'm here to recommit myself to ME and to doing what is good for my body for several reasons.

Fitness Minutes: 2,755

My Goals:
-I want to start a family. I want to have a healthy pregnancy (or with any luck, more than one healthy pregnancy!) and I want to have the energy to keep up with all the little ones I bring into this world.

-I want to live a long, healthy life with my many loved ones - my husband, my parents, my sister, and my friends.

-I want to be in less pain every day... I'm done waking up with back aches, having sore hips, and having a headache nearly every day.

-I want to see what my body can do! I love things like hiking and kayaking, and I want to be able to climb bigger, taller mountains... and to be able to ride my bike without my weight being too much for my legs to pull around.

-I want to be able to get on an airplane without worrying about whether the seat belt will fit around my waist; to go scuba diving without wondering if there will be a wet suit that will fit me; to not have to worry about weight limits

My Program:
I count calories, and try to eat mostly whole grains, organic foods, lean proteins - you know, the healthy stuff - and try to steer away from trans fats and high fructose corn syrup. I drink lots and lots of water. I stick with exercise that I enjoy, like swimming laps, strength training, playing DDR or Wii Fit, or going for walks and hikes when the weather is right.

Personal Information:
My name is Danielle. I'm 28 years old and I live in central Maine. I'm a newlywed!

So I got the EA Sports Active today! Thought I'd give you my "review" of it. I did the first workout of the "30 day challenge," as well as some extra boxing and dancing. What I don't like is that, for the 30 day challenge, you just do the exercises they give you. I don't want to walk and run - I can do that outside! I want to do fun stuff! Plus the first workout was only about 16 minutes, so I had to go and construct some supplemental workouts. I think I might just make my own custom workouts from now on and forget the challenge. The boxing is really fun, and the dancing is pretty fun too. You can use the balance board for both of those exercises, but you don't have to. I haven't done any of the "sports" stuff yet, like baseball or tennis, but I'm sure those will be fun. So overall I am pleased with it. It's much more intense than the Wii Fit, so I can work out for less time and burn just as many calories. It also tells you how many calories you're burning, though from what I've read online it underestimates pretty drastically! But it's nice that it tracks your time and calories each day and shows your progress. There is also a "journal" function where you answer questions about your health habits (eating, drinking, sleeping, etc.) from the previous day, if that interests you. It doesn't weigh you, though, which I actually like about the Wii Fit. I love seeing the graph of how my weight and BMI and going down! Okay, I think that's enough! :)

I do have the Wii Fit. I like it a lot, but the cardio exercises aren't very intense. That's why I want the EA Sports Active - I've read that it is pretty intense and there's a wider variety of cardio options. I'll let you know when I eventually get it! But I would probably still recommend that you get the Wii Fit so that you have the balance board. I know it's not required for the EA game, but I've read that it is helpful to have it for some of the activities. Plus there are other games that use it too. There's a Rayman Raving Rabids game that looks super fun, where you have to do dance moves using the balance board and remote/nunchuck (kinda like guitar hero - you have to match the poses that scroll on the screen, lol!). So if you've got the dinero I'd get both, but which you get first might depend on what your main priority is - having fun and light exercise, or super duper cardio workouts. But I will definitely update you when I get EA Sports Active. Hooray!
