I started my weight loss journey after I had my first daughter...but I didn't really ever reach my goals. I've done weight watchers, seattle sutten and a few others. I have exercised in the past but then life happened and I quit.

A big part of my journy is learning how to treat myself, my whole self, in a manner that reflects God's purpose for me. Part of what that looks like for me is taking ownership of me, not hiding, not disassociating, but being kind and compassionate to myself. Learning to be okay with failure, setbacks, readjustments are on the list as well.

After my 2nd daughter I weighed in at a whopping 180 lbs, for being 5 feet and a half inch (that half inch is noteworthy!) that is big. I did weight watchers and got down to 155. I went back up to 167. I got pregnant with my son and it went up more. When I started sparkpeople I had managed to get down to 154, which was a miracle, because I had not been below 155 since after my 1st daughter was born. I am committed to this journey no matter how long it takes.

I am a runner. Those 4 words were never something I would say before. I realize now its just a state of mind. I am a runner because I run, and I love to do it. But as motivation to go far in my new found love of running I have signed up for a half marathon. I need goals, and this one is a big one but it's doable.

One big step forward in my journey was learning that I have exercise induced asthma. Knowing that is half the battle because I used to think I just couldn't get in shape, but now I know the reason why I didn't have endurance and fatigued so easily was because I wasn't getting enough oxygen. Now I look back and think how strong I was pushing through even though it was hard!

All in all I don't want my journey to be obsessive about becoming a hot body, or a number on the scale. I just want to be healthy in my body and mind and heart. I don't want food or exercise to be an idol in my life. I want my priorities to be right. I want balance. I want to live my life full.

I want to worship God with my body. I want to take care of my body and protect it from disease. I want to steward my body well. I want to set an example for my children too.

Thanks for coming to my page and reading about me, I would love to learn about you too so leave me a line and let's do this together!

Hey, Theresa! I can't say I took a break this summer- more like slacked off. After my June vacation to Florida, my discipline tanked and I gained back all the weight I lost. But I'm going to attempt to get back to business with the help of SP and some accountability partners. Are you still running? I was so proud of what you had accomplished and all your hard work! Keep going, sister! emoticon Love, Trisha
