I started this journey April 18, 2007 and lost 40+ pounds by my first ever 5K walk in August 07. While I had caught the racing "bug" then and have done three 5K runs and an indoor triathlon since, I have stalled out weight-loss wise all winter. I am ready to get back into some serious weight-loss again to better my chances of succeeding at my goal of a Sprint Triathlon on August 9th, 2008. I haven't taken my hypothyroidism and hypoglycemic meds all winter and I have a feeling that that might be part of the problem as well as the winter blahs. So now that Spring is moving forward, I am too!! No more excuses, just good training and healthy eating!!!

My Goals:
Be a good example to my kids of a lifestyle of healthy eating and fitness!

Participate in and finish the Motor City Sprint Triathlon in June 08 with a smile on my face and not dead!! :) (Swim 500 meters, Bike 20K/12.4 mi., Run 5K/3.1 mi.)

Lose weight down to 165 lb. and maintain that or less for the rest of my life!

My Program:
Currently training for the triathlon -- supposed to be swimming Tue. and Fri., Biking Wed. and Sat., and Running Thur. and Sun. with Monday a rest day. Doesn't always workout that well, but I'm trying!!

I don't really have an eating program at the moment. Although I like Weight Watchers and lost my first 40 pounds with them, I've just not been following the plan very well right now!

Personal Information:

Married to Hubby for 12+ years, three kids - son 14, son 10, daughter 8, licensed home daycare -- soon to be substitute bus driver for our local school district, cub scout leader, "soccer & floor hockey & track & basketball & FOOTBALL MOM", and triathlete in the making!!! :)

Other Information:
Love to read, write, do number and word puzzles (except crosswords, trivia's not my thing), love to take pics/videos, knit, swim, bike, run/walk :), garden, collect cute frogs and snowmen, hike, camp, canoe, kayak, fish, hunt, girls' nights or weekends out, card games, board games, party games, etc. etc. etc. I could go on and on, and that's not even counting all the stuff I'd LIKE to do or try IF I had the money!! lol

Welcome to Michigan Girls. I caught the running bug too after my first 5k. I love that feeling of crossing the finish line. It is also what keeps me motivated with my eating and work outs. I plan at least one every month on purpose. My biggest challenge is the full marathon in Detroit this year. I have my longest run of 16 miles planned tomorrow. Yikes.

Hi, Tal ~ Just thought I'd check in and see how things are going? Any races coming up soon?

I really am so proud of you that you've been doing these different competitions - it's so great! I didn't realize you had hypothyroidism too - so do I - 14 years on medication so far. I would really bet that is one of the biggest reasons you've kind of stalled out this winter - even when my medication is off, I can tell right away - I feel sluggish, gain weight right away, and have some awful sleep issues!

I'm in the same SP Class that you are - you'll really get a lot out of some of the posts. Hope you have a good week - talk to you soon!
