SparkPeople helped me rediscover the hidden me (2010) Still here & learning each day!
Hi and Welcome,
Wow! I have been with SparkPeople on and off since 2010. What once applied at the beginning of my journey has evolved just like me. I started when my son was in elementary school and have tried hard daily to be the best role model I can for him. He is now a senior in high school and I know my sticking to the healthy habits that I have learned her on SP have had an impact on him.
He chooses to drink water over sodas, he eats sweets and chips in moderation, and when he is stressed or needs a mental break from school work he chooses to go for long cardio walk. When its something important he wants to discuss with me- its a outdoor walking conference. So even if I may struggle at times with my weight going up & down or plateauing I see a result that is one not many may measure- I sparked a family member to be healthy!
As I thought I would become an "empty nester", life changes and the curveball hit-we have taken on the roles of advocates for our moms. I now have both my mom and my mother in-law living with us and though I juggle a lot of responsibilties I am continuing with my healthy goals and hoping to inspire my "mom" to embrace life, be active in it, and be grateful for the chance to help 2 incredible women who now need me and my family.
Hey- Mother's Day in my home is a National holiday!!

My Goals:
My goals for this year 2012:
* After weighing in and taking my measurements I'd like to aim for a 10% body weight loss so 15 lbs. plus at least 1 or 2 pant/dress sizes
*To race in 5k event that promotes community togetherness or a good cause this Spring/Summer
*To stick to a budget & savings plan so that I can purchase airline tickets to Florida to see my parents with my son
*To find a good balance in my life between work, family, and the long lost ME time. Yup, its ended at the bottom of my list the past few months. Time to reclaim some time and better healthy habits
My Program:
I am tracking my food daily and choosing & creating healthy meals for myself and family. (or at least trying when time allows)
I am drinking 8+ glasses of water daily to keep up with my body's demand for the "good stuff."
My current aim is to workout at least 3 times a week with cardio, strength & toning, plus yoga for mind & body balance.
I am mixing up my cardio workouts by doing: outside walk/jogs for 2 miles or more, plus walking my dogs their 1 mile route or more
elliptical training
Zumba & walking dvds
Wii fitness or XBox 360 Kinect fitness games/training
level.
Basically my motto is: "Get up & MOVE".
When weather permits I get outside and work in the yard for a practical workout & my vitamin D supply
To keep myself in the loop I do my best to read articles and blogs here on SparkPeople, plus the message boards for motivation and advice.
Personal Information:
I am still a Yankee-New England girl at heart but call our family home, North Carolina. I am a Boston Bruins fan and LOVE Raymond Bourque. Besides finding ways to bring exercise & fitness into my daily life I enjoy reading, quilting, gardening, painting ceramics, and creating stuff on my computer (Flipbook is GREAT for organizing family photos & having fun being creative).
I am determined to uncover my inner child once again & enjoy the adventure & journey of life. I am learning to value the little things in life and set goals. My most valuable possessions are my family and friends, without them I would be lost.
I've also lived life from both extremes in concerns to weight- I've been anorexic at 70 pounds and an overeater depressed individual at 177 pounds, now its time to find the "true" healthy me and the weight my body is happy & fit at. I've dealt with epilepsy and learned how to live a life with it and not let it hamper my growth.
I've overcome some big
