Having discovered I was diabetic at the age of 53 and gaining over 3 stone after going onto insulin, I have decided that I will not let my illness control me. Although it is difficult to lose weight when on insulin, the more weight I can lose the less insulin I will need, giving me more control.

Now at the age of 63 I have found a diet that works for me, my weight is falling and my blood glucose is the lowest it has ever been and hopefully will go even lower. Now aged 65.

My Goals:
want to be 163 lbs but not set a date

My Program:
Besides using the food tracking on SP I also exercise on a daily basis. I am fortunate in having a swimming pool and I do try to swim daily no matter what the weather. I now follow the Blood Sugar Diet and intend this to be my way of life.

Personal Information:
I am 31 years old and have retired early with my husband to SW France. We have a wonderful life here although I miss my daughter and 2 grandsons back in England.

Other Information:
When I swim I like to listen to music on my waterproof Ipod. I don't know if I will ever grow out of it but I love people like Lady Gaga,, Maroon 5 etc and love dancing like a loony. Hope I never grow out of it.

I like reading and at the moment I am into forensic science type books, like those of Tess Gerritson, Kathy Riechs and Nikki French. Try as I might I cannot get to like Patricia Cornwall even though she is classed a the queen of this genre. My new go to author is Liane Moriaty from Australia. Loved The Husbands Secret.

Or as I say, feel the fear and do it anyway. Gets me into some scrapes but so far I have succeeded in my efforts except for the diabetes and weight challenge, but I am still fighting

Conquer (fear) by admitting that you are afraid, but then proceed immediately with enthusiasm as if it were impossible to fail. Yahaya Baruwa

I have found a new author I absolutely love. She is not in my usual genre of Psychological thriller but she writes just so beautifullly. If you don't read anything else this year, please read The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriaty. It will grip you from the start, it is a bit of a mystery but written about how the past has affected the lives of 5 women. The conclusion is stunning, thought provoking and will make you cry. I have since read Little Big Lies and What Alice Forgot which I enjoyed and will be loading my Kindle with another of her books for my holiday in Portugal

Miracles unfold around us in every moment, but they often elude us, while we distract ourselves by projecting into a non-existent future or to the memory of a time we believe was surely more beautiful and rewarding than now. Patricia Cori
