Well, I still mean it. Two years later, I have regained the weight lost, went back to the old food ways-eating emotionally, whatever suits my mood. Joints aching, belly bloated once again. The new revalation, 8 weeks of gluten-free, sugar free eating and I am down two pant sizes. The hard part of course is maintaining that eating plan. Christmas is behind us now, the sweets are done, damages were minimal, but it's been confirmed. Sugar increases the aches in my joints as well as setting me off on eating more of it. The gluten thing just causes me physical pain, eating it bloats me up, creates gastric distress and overall, just really isn't it worth it. So I'm off on doing my journey differently, as much as I possibly can. I'm learning new ways to make food tasty without added sugars and wheat, give myself treats and support this way of eating, not focusing on the weight, but on how food makes my body feel. It's a learning process...

My Goals:
To lose 23 lbs and truly change my behavior with food for good. To exercise daily. This is a lifetime goal, still a good one, but one I am realizing won't go away. To find something joyful in my life every single day.


My Program:
No more computer solitaire. It's like drinking to get numb for me. Track everything I eat. Make my diet whole foods, get my sugar from fruit and not from the box. Walk every day.
No matter what.



Personal Information:
I live in Hollister, a small town in a beautiful valley in Central California. I am an empty nester, my 82 year old mother with dementia lives 3 blocks from me in a nursing home and my adult daughter is a pre-school teacher at a local child development center. My husband and I are rediscovering each other. I am still job/work hunting after a lay-off 11 1/2 mos ago.

    Sorry to hear you're not joining us this time...I have found that by putting my totals on the calendar every day seems to help...then all I have to do is do the main total at the end of the week. Of course, I use the points system from WW every day and have been doing that for years, it seems, so that's a given...please join us next time around!

    I am ready to move to California for the weather...the spring here hasn't even started yet...rain and cold and miserable! Send some sun and warmth our way! emoticon

    Wow, has it been 3 years since your shoulder replacement? Boy how time flies. You did so good with that one, I'm sure the next one will be a breeze. I am getting anxious as my tests came back that I have a UTI, which would mean no surgery until it is cleared up. But the funny part is I have no symptoms. Waiting for a call from the doc tomorrow to see if I go on medicine and have to get another test in 5 days.

    How is your job going?? How about your garden, I miss seeing and hearing about all the things you are growing. Has the weather been good for gardening and most importantly, do you have time to garden??

    Keep me posted on when your surgery is, I don't think we are coming out this summer, but we will be there at Christmas for sure, just don't know the dates yet. Take care.

    Hi...you are doing the challenge with us this time, right? I have started off great and hopefully every week I'll have a weight loss.

    We had snow here Sunday morning but then the sun finally came out after a week of rain and melted everything...this has been a slow start to spring. I was able to get out yesterday and cleanup the yard and I can see some of my perennials finally peaking through the ground....this time last year all my tulips were in bloom!

    Here's to a successful week for all of us!!! emoticon

    Dogwoods not blooming where I am at yet. Just the Bradford Pear trees. Shouldn't be long though. It was a beautiful March day here. We were in the 70's but a bit windy. All in all a pretty good day. I had to work though. Have a great week. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    You had a really good week on the Challenge...I'm impressed with your exercise points. I usually get in about 45 a day which I'm happy with but I need to get in better eating habits. The weather has been so rotten that I've been reaching for more junk food...I need sun!!! Have a great weekend! emoticon emoticon
