New Year, new me (hopefully). 2010 saw a lot of ups and downs for me. I gained some weight back, but managed to lose some of it until the holidays came around. I'm working on losing that right now. Like everyone else in Sparkpeople, not only do I want to be thinner, I want to be healthier. I am a borderline diabetic, and checked my blood sugar and Hgb A1C 2 days ago, and got an 83 and 5.2 respectively, so yay!

It's been about 2 years since I've started my weight loss journey with SP, and I've had my highs and lows, just like everyone else, struggling to make the right choices. It's kind of hard to incorporate good habits, when I've had at least 39 years of bad ones! At one point in my journey I lost 60 pounds (almost 50 with SP), but then got lax, and some weight flew back on. Well, this past November, I woke up and asked myself "what are you doing?" I've lost almost 26 pounds since then, and I feel healthier and happier!

This is my original intro:

Hi, I've been heavy for most of my life. Even when I was fit and trim in my younger days, I had to work really hard at it, and basically went to the gym every day. After marriage and kids, fitness went on the back burner (don't most moms do that?) and my weight just shot up. I gained 65 pounds with my first baby 16 years ago, and never lost it. I even gained on top of that. I've gained and lost and gained and lost, but with the help of SP, it'll stay lost this time!

I am so very glad to be here, and have made so many Sparkfriends! They are my help in hard times, my encouragement in "feeling low" times and my cheerleaders during goal times! You all know who you are! Thank you!

Fitness Minutes: 38,839

My Goals:
To lose 30 pounds for my daughter's high school graduation next year!

I lost 60 pounds for my Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary last year, but gained half of it back. I want to lose 20 pounds in time for a cruise in late April.

My Program:
I try to do at least 10 minutes of cardio everyday. More like 20 to 30 minutes, 5 to 7 times a weeks. I also strength train 3 to 4 times a week.
My biggest help is the nutrition tracker. That has allowed me to see what I was really eating, calorie wise.

Personal Information:
I'm 48 years old, a wife and a mother. My two teenage girls drive me crazy at times, but I know I am the luckiest mom in the world to have 2 wonderful kids. Then there are the two cats, Kitsey (calm cat) and Frisky (crazy cat). I should've named him 'Ivan" as we got him from the animal shelter 1 week before hurricane Ivan. I live in the Florida panhandle, where it is hot, hot, hot! So most of my exercising is done indoors.

Other Information:
My next intermediate goal is to break into the 140's.

After that, I want to get into the 'healthy' BMI. That'll be when I get down to 140!
