Beginning (again) with weight loss and fitness at the age of 77.

My previous successes were helped by thinking of myself as an athlete, even though I only jogged a little (quit at 55,) and I still find that self-image to be greatly motivating. As an athlete I have a training regimen for diet and for exercise, right? Since I'm in training for my 80's and beyond, why not?!

I also find it tremendously helpful to have one or two diet buddies to communicate with a couple of times each week.

I was thin and fit all through my youth, and again between 40 and mid-50's. There's absolutely no reason I can't be so again.

My Goals:
I am an athlete!
My training program requires:
Cardio work with gradual increases
Strength work and flexibility work
Modified diet to lower fat and calories
Progress logs
Celebration of milestones


My Program:
Strategies:
- Reduce computer time, especially on games.
- Gradually increase walking (from zero!)
- Gradually add strength work up to 12 min x 4 dpw
- Gradually add flex work up to 5 min x 6 dpw
- Note most successful meals and repeat them
- Keep highest trigger foods out of the house and be very conscious of other danger foods
- Post goals, strategies and progress charts
- Record and celebrate achievements
- Find good dog walking places
- Daily review my motives for my training program
- Use self-hypnosis regularly to reinforce goals and habits
- Check in with my diet/fitness buddy frequently

Living in Hoquiam, Washington, with my wife and dog. Retired.

Love my 9-yr-old Goldendoodle!

    It’s cold outside, but Spring is coming! Are you ready to join a Challenge? The Biggest Loser Challenge is looking for members for it’s next Challenge starting the first week of March. The challenge consists of 11 Teams, that participate in 10 weeks of Nutritional and Fitness Challenges. These challenges can be modified to fit individual needs, allowing members of all abilities and dietary needs to participate.
