Introduction Text Original Message 2010: Here I go . . . follow my progress if you'd like. My overall goal to get to 180 lbs may seem a bit wimpy, but I've not been below 175 since high school, and not below 190 since having children. I'm going to break that 190 this time and I'll be EXCITED to readjust the goal at that time. For now, I'm feeling realistic is best and we'll just take this one day at a time. UPDATE 2012: I originally found Spark People in 2009, joined half heartedly just to see what this was about. When I got serious in 2010 after watching my weight yo-yo, I committed to consecutive days of exercise and tracked my calories in and out fairly religiously. I was successful and lost 35+ pounds and then stalled out between 190-195, but was happy there. It feels good, I'm a comfortable size 12 at that weight (which surprised me). I believe I fit in the 12 so well then because of the exercise. I maintained that into the summer of 2011 when life struck me with tragedy. In July, my 15 year old son Austin died due to a brain aneurysm. After that happened I didn't really have energy or motivation to exercise, watch what I ate, I really just didn't care about any of it. So during this first year after losing Austin, my weight has yet again crept back up to near 230. I don't feel well, my clothes don't fit, my back gets sore, my joints are stiff. I just do not like being or looking like this. So I've made myself some small streaks to SPARK this again. It's time!!! Time to take care of me and be the best me I can be while I'm on this earth for all of my family, here on earth and in heaven. UPDATE 2014: So, the 2012 attempt was not long standing. I'm back again and have made a 50 day pact with a friend. That is probably just what I needed to SPARK this time!

Watching portion size, total calories 1300-1700, and continuing a consistent exercise program - - at least 10 minutes every day.

I'm in Illinois. Have 4 children (Ages 19-22. One eternally 15 - love you Austin!) and a wonderful supportive husband. We added a grandbaby in Jan 2014.
