You get out what you put in!!
A little about myself:
I've been a long-time runner, but always struggled with my weight. It took me a long time to realize that absolute importance of nutrition. After having my twins in 2008, I found myself at my highest weight ever.... 175 lbs. It was time for an overhaul. I started following the Maker's Diet (which is not really a diet at all, but a clean, healthy way of life), & slowly started running again. It was a long haul, but the weight DID come off. I still struggle with not letting bad habits creep back in, but I KEEP WORKING AT IT!
Since then, I also have started doing long distance races. I ran my first HM in 2009, & my first marathon in 2011. I love running events, & love the motivation it gives me to challenge myself to new distances & improving my times.

5K (non-race) - 22:55
10K - 46:16
HM - 1:43:12
30K - 2:44
Marathon - 3:47:44
My Program:
EXERCISE:
Running (and lots of it!):
4-5 days weekly (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Sat)
Saturday: Long run
Strength Training:
2-3x a week
DIET:
I've tried about every diet out there - Low-carb (whole foods low-carb), Paleo, portion sizes, calorie counting, Trim Healthy Mama. I have now come full circle, and do not believe a low carb or keto diet is the way to go. I eat a balanced diet with healthy fats and carbs, try to eat lots of veggies and always keeping a good source of protein a part of every snack and meal.
