Working on a Healthier Future
I've recently had a huge loss. My husband passed away from a massive heart attack. He was 43. By all appearances he was the healthy one. Especially given my weight problems. We have four amazing children, and I don't want them to have to go through the loss of a parent again for a very long time. I'm hoping SparkPeople will help me have some positive loss (of weight) for a healthier future for myself and for them. UPDATE: It's been almost a year since I lost my husband. During that time I ...

We have four amazing children, and I don't want them to have to go through the loss of a parent again for a very long time. I'm hoping SparkPeople will help me have some positive loss (of weight) for a healthier future for myself and for them. UPDATE: It's been almost a year since I lost my husband. During that time I gained some weight, some perspective, this site, and the great people here. I've also lost almost 50 pounds! I've moved slowly but surely toward a new life. I've looked ahead more than backwards, putting one baby step in front of the other. Oddly enough, one thing I didn't expect to find found me. New love. UPDATE 2: New love lost due to the distance, but I've also lost almost 25 more pounds. Life is about the good and the bad. I'm moving on. UPDATE 3: I started dating again 8 months ago and after a few months I found Joe. We've been together for about 6 months and I do believe I've found the other half of my heart :) Weight-wise I've plateaued at 89 pounds lost, and even though I want to lose more I haven't felt happier and healthier! UPDATE 4: It's been a while and I've gained a bit. Some good, some bad, some great: Joe and I got married (the great!), I got a wonderful job I love (the good), and I gained back some of the weight I lost (the bad). So, I'm back to tracking, since it's what works for me.
