Jan 2011 Hello. My name is Rachel. I have decided to start this journey because I started to really hate the way I feel about myself. Like my title says, it's time for a change. My two beautiful children deserve a happy-go-lucky mom again....and so does my husband.

I wasn't always obese (that's what my BMI says but not really how I feel). I was always active when I was younger, the skinny tall girl in elementary school. I joined the military when I graduated. Was very much in shape when I got married. But everything went downhill once I got pregnant with my first child. Then lost half of that weight (gained 65lbs during that pregnancy) by time I got pregnant with my next child. I ended up putting on 30lbs with that pregnancy and have since then had a hard time taking it off.

I look back at my life before children and think "why didn't I LOVE my body then the way I love the way I looked then now?" Make sence? I look back at pictures and die to have that body back but back then I was just...me. No too sexy....pretty but not gorgeous. Now, I'm like "WOW! I looked amazing!" It's depressing at times but I'm ok with it. I have two amazing children that are unconditionally loved by myself and my husband. I just want to get close to that body. It's up to me. And so my journey begins!

Update Jan 2012

So to be honest, I haven't done that well in the last year. I am challenging myself this year to do much better. I'm taking it one step at a time and will do the best I can do. I'm going to start by tracking my weekly weigh-in's on my profile. I have also started to plug in all the food I eat into the nutrition section, something I didn't do last year. I know I can do this! My goal has always been 130. I'm 5'6 1/2" and that would put my BMI at a healthy 21. I may adjust that number to anywhere between 130-140 depending on how I look at 140. I may be just as comfortable at 140 as I once was at 130. We will see.....

My Goals:
At the least lose 2 lbs a month for the next year(2012) but I am hoping to do more!

Do a MudRun in either March or June with friends.

Be in shape for cousins wedding in September.

Try not to eat fast food during nursing school breaks this year.
