Hello from Costa Rica!
This is a Costa Rican, living in Costa Rica ;-))

I'm a happy member of the 5% Challenges. The amazing friends I've made through Spark Teams keep me motivated. Though I'm always in a constant battle with my weight, I can say I've learned what's good for my health and what works for me not only from SparkPeople's wonderful information, excellent blogs, and superb tools but from these well-organized challenges (5%, BL, and BLC seasonal challenges).
These challenges have made this lifelong difficult journey towards a healthier me, into a more joyful one.

My Goals:
To reach my normal BMI and stay there (the hard road of maintaining).

My Program:
*Exercise commitment:
A minimum of 60 m of exercise, walking/hiking/dancing, 5 days a week. This may include 30 min or more of yoga, stretching, ST, once or twice a week.
*Nutrition Commitment
To eat as healthy as possible within my calorie range to lose weight.

Personal Information:
I live in Grecia, Alajuela, Costa Rica, in the mountains (at an altitude of 4757 ft). I'm 60 (what a milestone!) and married for almost 42 years (another milestone!). Three grown children already gone, and three grandkids. I like to help with my DD with her two kids. I'm also fully in charge of the well being of my elderly mom unfortunately with advanced vascular dementia.
My first SparkFriend in this page is my daughter and my granddaughter Desiree.

Other Information:
Besides my family, I enjoy my daily routine of walking, usually 2 hours, with my walking buddies or my doggies. I also like to care for my pets, 5 dogs - 4 cats, Sparking, reading, watching movies or TV series. I also love to travel overseas, but can't afford to do it as often as I'd like to.

TGIF!!! Happy Friday to one and all!
Believe it or not, today is National Tell A Joke Day, so in celebrating it with gusto, as we usually do. . . let’s get our Weekend Happy Face on!!

    ♥One man to another at a church fund-raising dinner . . .
My wife’s cooking is so bad we usually pray after our food.

♥ A young man asks his father, “Dad, how much does it cost to get married?
“I honestly don’t know son, I’m still paying.”

♥ Shortly before our 25th wedding anniversary, my husband sent 25 long-stemmed yellow roses to me at my office. A few days later, I plucked all the petals and dried them. On the night of our anniversary, I spread the petals over the bed and lay on top of them, wearing only a black negligee.
As I’d hoped, I got a reaction from my husband.
When he saw me, he shouted, “Are those potato chips?”

♥ “When I married Donna, I could get both hands around her waist,” said my husband’s grandfather. Pointing at his full-figured wife, he boasted, “Now look how much I got. That’s what I call an investment!”

♥ When I asked a friend the secret to his 52 years of marriage, he replied, “We never go to sleep angry.”
    “That’s a great philosophy,” I noted.
“Yes. And the longest we’ve been awake so far is five days.”

I hope you have a Funtastic Friday, and a wonderful weekend!
