Life Between Meals
Now that I'm eating to live, there is a lot more living than eating going on! I'm determined to discover my authentic self through education, inspiration, and perspiration.

My Goals:
I've learned through experience that the only obstacles in life that really matter are the obstacles you allow to stop you completely. The whole world will line up to tell you "NO." Never say NO to yourself. Say "YES" to your own dreams!
My Program:
I eat three moderate meals a day with an afternoon snack if I'm truly hungry. I practice mindful portion control by weighing and measuring food. I watch my balance of macronutrients and rarely eat processed foods. The basis of my weight loss has been lean proteins, lots of veggies, a little fruit and dairy, and limited unrefined carbs, like brown rice, yams, quinoa, and similar whole foods. A few times a week I enjoy a scant teaspoon of agave syrup in tea or on yogurt or oatmeal. But on June 14, 2011, I finally admitted that--for me--sugar and other refined carbs are not food, they are entertainment. On extremely rare occasions I indulge in that entertainment(e.g., a small slice of wedding cake, etc.), but I have primarily removed uber-refined carbs from my diet. It has made an incredible difference in my life!
Personal Information:
I used to call myself a late bloomer; now I say I am a Wild Bloomer! At age 50, I was admitted as an undergraduate to Stanford University and graduated in the top 15% of my class. I'm now finishing my MFA degree in fiction-writing. I have completed one novel and am at work on a second. I have four grown sons, an amazing and supportive husband, and live in beautiful Northern California, behind the Redwood Curtain.
Now that I've accomplished so many other exciting things, it is time to allow my physical self to thrive and flourish.
Other Information:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves,
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
~Marianne Williamson
