Hi, Mark ! Saw your post in the panic room. I'll copy my reply here.

Don't assume something must be wrong because the weight isn't coming off as fast as you'd like it. This isn't the Biggest Loser. the weight doesn't magically drop off the minute we decide we need to lose.

While a safe weekly weight loss would be 1-2 pounds per week, there may be weeks you don't lose. there may even be weeks you gain. that doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. Weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time. AND what most people don't realize is that some times, it could take 6-8 WEEKS of healthy eating and regular exercise before a person sees a change in the scale. And that's perfectly normal.

What to do ? Continue to eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise that includes some strength training. Are you eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies ? If not, I would encourage you to increase the amount of veggies you eat. Personally, I don't believe in substituting a protein shake for a meal. I believe a person needs to eat real food in order to lose weight. It's one thing if you'd like one as a snack, but they shouldn't be used as a meal.

If you check out the Spark recipes section, Chef Meg as all sorts of various recipes you could try for breakfast. How about a nice omelette ? How about some steel cut oatmeal with fresh blueberries and walnuts ? Breakfast is the most important meal of your day because it's the fuel your body will use until lunch. So, do make sure you're having a nutritious breakfast to start your day.

So, don't assume something must be wrong because the scale isn't moving fast enough. Are your clothes fitting better ? Do you seem to have a bit more energy ? Can you do more push ups today than you could 8 weeks ago ? Can you walk a mile faster than you could two months ago ? How's your blood pressure ?

Do you know that if your blood pressure has dropped since you started eating better, your doctor would be thrilled even if you haven't lost any weight. lowering your blood pressure is a huge sign of success.

As the coaches all say,"trust the process".
