October 07 I began the dreaded and long over due process of getting back in shape after having two children (with almost 4 yrs between them). My husband and I joined a gym and are getting help from a personal trainer as well to stay focused and achieve our goals. We're striving to get in shape and eat healthier.

I completed my first 1/2 marathon in Feb 08 in under 3 hours. It was an incredible experience that I will always remember. I am so proud of my husband and mom for doing it with me and finishing in pretty good time too. I'm totally hooked. Now I'm training to better my time and do a few more races this year.

2008 Races:
Feb 16, Myrtle Beach 1/2 marathon (my first!) 2:58:48
April 5, Raleigh Rocks 1/2 marathon 2:43;56
May 3, Komen Race for the Cure 5K
July 4, Peachtree Road Race 10K - staying with my family and supporting my sister rather than pushing for a goal time was just as fulfilling.

Looking for a good race this fall to keep moving forward.

My Goals:
Summary -
1. Get in Better Shape
2. Return to pre-children weight (145lbs.)
3. Complete half marathon Feb 2008

My Program:
Cardio 3-4 times per week (running, bike, elliptical, mostly running)
Weights 2-3 times per week
Legs 2x per week (I have weak knees/ankles so I'm constantly working to strengthen the muscles around them.

Personal Information:
Grew up in Atlanta, went to Univ of Georgia for undergrad and am finishing up my PhD in Human Genetics at Wake Forest Univ. in Winston Salem, NC. Looking for a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Molecular Genetics (genetic testing).

Other Information:
My friends inspire me (especially Caitrin and Stanton) and motivate me to keep working towards my goals.

    Noticed you will be doing OBX half this weekend. I have run it since it started and love it. Looks like we will have good weather for the run. Best part-the crowds and neighborhoods are fun.

    Hey Megan. Glad to have a leader for our Winston-Salem Sparkers team. I hike regularly on weekends at Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock, so if anyone wants to join in I'd be glad to have the company.

    Megan, congrats on your first 1/2 marathon! My sister and I walked it in 7 hours 53 minutes... my first full marathon. You had an awesome time! I'm also in Winston Salem, so nice to "meet" you!
