    Hi, Minoush

I see you commented on my Beck Day 2 blog, and that you are also a breast cancer survivor.

The Judith S Beck "Diet Solution" book and workbook were very helpful for me in learning how to think like a thin person: and it's been the change in underlying thinking (plus of course using the Spark nutrition and exercise trackers!!) that have helped me the most.

All the best to you: a big motivator for me to keep weight off is my desire to avoid breast cancer recurrence (which in my case is probably weight-related).

Hi Mona - it can be tough to get started. Just start small with making 1-2 changes until they become habits.

If you know it's portion control then get measuring cups/spoons, and a scale of some sort (I use a postage scale that is more sensitive and less costly then a food scale in my part of the world). Becoming aware of what you are eating is really the first step.

If you have a habit of eating before a meal, keep the habit but change it to something that can help you better. For example, make that "natural thing" a piece of fruit or a veggie. Drink water with it. Studies have shown people who eat a salad or soup before a meal eat less during the meal.

Spark is a great resource! I spent months reading the articles and really applying them to make a Lifestyle Change. The message boards are full of info too, especially the nutrition one about feeling full with less calories. Good luck and start today!!

Hi MINOUSH, thanks for commenting on my page. I've been also through depression myself and it's not easy to overcome it. Exercise and yoga have helped me a lot. I wish you the best and good luck
