Introduction Text Back to SparkPeople for the first time in almost 5 years. My habit of being "all or nothing" (mostly nothing!) in terms of healthy lifestyle habits has finally caught up with me and now I have no choice. A month ago I had a heart catheterization and two stints inserted. I'm fortunate that I had no identifiable heart damage but now have to be extremely careful with dietary choices and activity level to prevent further blockages and problems with the stints. As in the past when I would be on one of my short-lived "health kicks", I ended up back at Sparkpeople as my choice for the best app/website for working toward my health goals. This time my focus is not on weight loss, although that is happening because of the drastic changes I've had to make in my activity level and eating habits as part of cardiac rehab. I'm following their dietary guidelines (with strict limits on saturated fat, sodium and sugar), back to wearing my Fitbit, and doing cardiac rehab exercise classes twice a week. At first I felt overwhelmed, exhausted and deprived since I can no longer have so many of my favorite foods (bye-bye butter!) and it takes so much time and effort to research and prepare my food. As I'm learning more about substituting healthy ingredients and prepping meals ahead, it's getting a little more manageable. I hope that, as in the past, Spark friends and teams can help with ideas to make these changes more palatable, less time consuming and less work. I'll be happy to pass along any tips that could help others as well. I wish everyone here well in achieving their goals, feeling well and being healthy.
